Mona K. McPhee

Senior Counsel

Mona is a regulatory and business attorney who employs strategic decision-making in high-pressure situations with a focus on entrepreneurial solutions. She provides legal counsel to companies on commercial and regulatory issues, including sanctions law compliance, cross-border transactions, supply-chain contracts, co-branding, employment matters, internal standards and practices, risk and crisis management, and hospitality law and operations. Mona frequently works with companies expanding into new markets.

A significant portion of Mona’s practice involves serving the travel and tourism industry. Mona negotiates with travel suppliers worldwide, monitors developments in the regulatory landscape, and coordinates responses to government inquiries. She regularly drafts waivers of liability, terms and conditions of purchase, terms of use, medical waiver forms, sales and marketing agreements, advertising contracts, distribution agreements, nondisclosure agreements, severance agreements, settlements of disputes, and regulatory compliance opinion letters. Also, as a member of our Alcoholic Beverage industry team, Mona works with Pacific Northwest wineries and breweries. She is especially interested in the intersection of wine and tourism, and she assists producers with operations and risk management as part of strategies aimed at increasing revenue.

Mona also litigates multijurisdictional commercial cases and partnership disputes. In addition to domestic commercial litigation, Mona has experience in negotiating resolutions between U.S. and European companies and in representing companies from India in U.S. courts.

With nearly two decades of litigation experience and wide-ranging transactional experience, Mona approaches her clients’ legal challenges in court and at the negotiation table with a business-solution mindset.

Following law school, Mona served as Senior Law Clerk to the Honorable Gerry L. Alexander, then Chief Justice of the Washington State Supreme Court.
